Quatrain XLI

by Abu al-Ala al-Ma'arri 973–1057

Translated by Henry Baerlein (1909) · From The Diwan of Abu'l-Ala (1909)

Religion

Of living shall be--hush, poor heart!--withdrawn,
As even to the camel comes a dawn
Without a burden for his wounded back.
