Quatrain LXXVIII

by Abu al-Ala al-Ma'arri 973–1057

Translated by Henry Baerlein (1909) · From The Diwan of Abu'l-Ala (1909)

Religion

Below the flood of custom, or they float
And, like the wonderful Sar'aby coat,
They captivate us for a little year.
