The Tidy Woman

by Anonymous Chinese nursery rhymes traditional (collected in Peking, 1890s)

Translated by Isaac Taylor Headland (1900) · From Chinese Mother Goose Rhymes (1900)

Living

The tidy woman
Is always clean,
No dirt in her home
Is ever seen.

Her food is fit
For a king to eat,
And her hair and clothes
Are always neat.
