Time & Brevity

Take time while time doth last

by Anonymous (Elizabethan songs) c. 1588–1630

From Lyrics from the Song-Books of the Elizabethan Age, ed. A. H. Bullen (London: Nimmo, 1891)

Time & Brevity

Take time while time doth last,
Mark how fair fadeth fast;
Beware if envy reign,
Take heed of proud disdain;
Hold fast now in thy youth,
Regard thy vowed truth,
Lest, when thou waxeth old,
Friends fail and love grow cold.
