Death & Dying

Your shining eyes and golden hair

by Anonymous (Elizabethan songs) c. 1588–1630

From Lyrics from the Song-Books of the Elizabethan Age, ed. A. H. Bullen (London: Nimmo, 1891)

Death & Dying

Your shining eyes and golden hair,
Your lily-rosed lips so fair;
Your various beauties which excel,
Men cannot choose but like them well:
Yet when for them they say they'll die,
Believe them not,—they do but lie.
