To Godfrey Froggat

by Thomas Bancroft fl. 1633–1658

From Two Bookes of Epigrammes, and Epitaphs (1639), Book I

Social Commentaries

Cuz, thou and I (though no man knew the same)
By our meere likenesse should our Kindred claime:
Both Learning-lovers, faithfull-hearted, kind.
Of lowly stature, yet of lofty minde:
Onely quaint Fortune, that with thee doth stay
Playes the blind Jade with me, and wheeles away.
