Meditation of mortality
From Two Bookes of Epigrammes, and Epitaphs (1639), Book II
Social Commentaries
The Mariner that best his Barke doth guide,
Sits at the Sterne; and he that would provide
For his soules safety, to the end must fly
Of life, in thoughts of fraile mortality;
So shall he bring his vessell to the Cape
Of his best hope, and wrackfull vengeance scape.
