Unbidden Guests

Good thoughts are like the violet demure—
So sweet, so pure;
They ope their happy eyes
'Neath stormy skies,
Calm and secure.

As guests unbidden though perchance they come,
They make the dumb,
Pale silence blithely ring
And sad lips sing
Most frolicsome.
