Epigram XLIX

by Bhartrihari traditionally 5th–7th century AD

Translated by Paul Elmer More (1898) · From A Century of Indian Epigrams (1898)

Living

Yonder a stone — no dog's in view:
There is your dog, here stones to try at him
The king's dog! what's a man to do?
