Death & Dying
Epigram IX. On Love and Death
Translated by Alexander Brome (1664) · From Songs and Other Poems (1664)
Death & Dying
Love once and Death chang'd weapons, & Death took
Loves fiery dart, while Cupid got Death's hook.
Love at the body, Death at th' mind lets fly,
This makes old men to love, and young men dye.
