Death & Dying

Sleep, mourner, sleep! — I cannot sleep

by Emily Brontë 1818–1848

From Complete Poems (1910)

Death & Dying

Sleep, mourner, sleep! — I cannot sleep,
My weary mind still wanders on;
Then silent weep — I cannot weep,
For eyes and tears are turned to stone.
