Love

XVI

by Elizabeth Barrett Browning 1806–1861

From The Poetical Works of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Volume 1

Love

"A man on earth HE wandered once,
All meek and undefiled,
And those who loved Him said 'He wept'--
None ever said He smiled;
Yet there might have been a smile unseen,
When He bowed his holy face, I ween,
To bless that happy child.
