Epigram 121. To Clarinda

by Sir Aston Cokain 1608–1684

From A Chain of Golden Poems (1658)

Love

And why? she feeds on sweet-meats most those days.
But pardon me that thus traduce your merit;
You keep the flesh low to advance the Spirit.
