Arts & Sciences

Wherefore should Virgil wrong the Carthage Queen?
Was it through Ignorance, or out of spleen?
If he unwittingly eclips'd her Glory,
The ablest Poet was unskil'd in Story:
If he through malice tax'd her with such guilt,
It was 'cause she Romes dreaded rivall built.
But he might think (though her he did debase)
To be in his Lines any thing was Grace.
