Love

Epigram 8. To Dulcinea

by Sir Aston Cokain 1608–1684

From A Chain of Golden Poems (1658)

Love

Dulcinea (it seems) bears me a grutch
Cause of my Love to her I talk so much.
To love, and have no vent at all, would break
An heart, therefore give Lovers leave to speak,
But be appeas'd (fair Maid) for I'le be sworn
I love thee vertuous, vicious O thee should scorn.
