Nature

The Second Birth

by Samuel Taylor Coleridge 1772–1834

From Complete Poetical Works, ed. E. H. Coleridge (1912)

Nature

There are two births, the one when Light
First strikes the new-awaken'd sense--
The other when two souls unite,
And we must count our life from then.

When you lov'd me, and I lov'd you,
Then both of us were born anew.
