by Samuel Taylor Coleridge 1772–1834

From Complete Poetical Works, ed. E. H. Coleridge (1912)

Social Commentaries

In vain I praise thee, Zoilus!
In vain thou rail'st at me!
Me no one credits, Zoilus!
And no one credits thee!

'Frustra ego te laudo, frustra
Me, Zoile, laedis;
Nemo mihi credit,
Zoile, nemo, tibi.'
