The Mind

Fragment: A MANIAC in the woods--She crosses heedlessly the woodman's

by Samuel Taylor Coleridge 1772–1834

From Complete Poetical Works, ed. E. H. Coleridge (1912)

The Mind

A MANIAC in the woods--She crosses heedlessly the woodman's
path--scourg'd by rebounding boughs.

And how he cross'd the woodman's paths,
Thro' briars and swampy mosses beat;
How boughs rebounding scourg'd his limbs,
And low stubs gor'd his feet.
