Love

Blind

by Mary E. Coleridge 1861–1907

From Poems (1908)

Love

The branch breaks because it is weak.
Never talk of the wind!
"Was it his parents, Rabbi? Speak!
Or was it he who sinned?"

But He that made the branch and the wind,
And men and women out of clay.
Gave answer: "This man hath not sinned,
Nor they."
