Love

Prosperity

by Mary E. Coleridge 1861–1907

From Poems (1908)

Love

Thy blessings are an armed band.
With a javelin and a dart,
With a spear to wound the heart
Round about they stand.

Soul, in honour glorified,
Be thou ware of deadly sin!
Cruelty's the javelin,
The spear is pride.
