Book VII, 88: On Chilon
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. II, 1917)
Death & Dying
O Phoebus, giver of light, I give thee thanks in that the son of Chilon gained by boxing the green olive-crown. And if his father seeing his son crowned, died of joy, why should we complain? May such a death be mine.’
