Love

Deep impression of Love to his Mistris

by William Drummond of Hawthornden 1585–1649

Love

WHom a mad Dog doth bite,
He doth in Water still
That mad Dogs Image see:
Love mad (perhaps) when he my Heart did smite
(More to dissemble his Ill)
Transform'd himselfe to thee:
For thou art present ever since to me.
No Spring there is, no Floud, nor other Place,
Where I (alas) not see thy Heavenly Face.
