Love

On his Lady, beholding her selfe in a Marble

by William Drummond of Hawthornden 1585–1649

Love

WOrld wonder not, that I
Keep in my brest engraven
That Angels face hath me of Rest bereaven.
See Dead and Senselesse things cannot deny
To lodge so deare a Guest:
Ev'n this hard Marble Stone
Receives the same, and loves, but cannot groane.
