Love
Apollo's Triumph
From Underneath the Bough (1898)
Love
She fled from love, her suit was granted,
Daphne was changed into a laurel-tree.
But after, with so keen a zest she panted
To yield her sweets, and, in despair,
Cast such engrossing odours through the air,
Apollo, breathing them, had all he wanted.
