Love

Down the forest-path I fled

by Michael Field 1846–1914 (Bradley) and 1862–1913 (Cooper)

From Underneath the Bough (1898)

Love

Down the forest-path I fled.
And followed a buzzing bee.
Till he clomb a foxglove red.
He filled full the nodding cup;
I stood and I laughed to see;
Then closed it and shut him up.
Till I laughed and set him free.
