by Robert Heath fl. 1636–1659

From Clarastella (1650), Epigrams, Lib. 1

Social Commentaries

Brisk when thour't drunk, then in thy own conceit,
Thour't Valiant, Wise, Great, Honest, Rich, Discreet.
Infus'd at once so many qualities?
Oh Virtuous sack from whence all these arise!
Troth! Brisk be alwaies drunk! for wel I know
When you are sober you are nothing so.
