On Histrio

by Robert Heath fl. 1636–1659

From Clarastella (1650), Epigrams, Lib. 1

Social Commentaries

Though Histrio on the stage doth often die,
Thus put in mind of his mortalitie,
Yet reclames not, but lives licenciously,
As if he were to act eternally.
Believe me Histrio death at last wil come,
Though for a while hee keeps the tyring room.
