Love

To his Kinswoman, Mistresse Susanna Herrick.

by Robert Herrick 1591–1674

From Hesperides (1648)

Love

WHen I consider (Dearest) thou dost stay
But here a while, to languish and decay;
Like to these Garden-glories, which here be
The Flowrie-sweet resemblances of Thee:
With griefe of heart, methinks, I thus doe cry,
Wo'd thou hast ne'r been born; or might'st not die.
