Love

To a Lady, saying I ought to Marry her, because she Lov'd me

by John Hopkins fl. 1700

From Amasia (1700), Vol. III

Love

Thus must I pay, by smarting, for your Wound;
If you be Conquer'd, why should I be bound?
O never more to such entreaties move,
You would not have me hate you, if you Love?
