Death & Dying
Lines on Sir John Elliot, M.D.
From Poems by Mr. Jerningham, a new edition (London: J. Robson, 1796), ECCO-TCP K107811
Death & Dying
THUS when the poison'd shafts of Death are sped,
The plant of Gilead bends her mournful head:
The holy balm that sooth'd another's pain
O'er her own wound distils its charm in vain.
