An Acrostich on my very worthy friend Mr. MARKE WARD.
From Divinity and Morality in Robes of Poetry ([1660?])
May all the real joys that can appear
Within the Circle of the next new year
Attend your wish; may no true pleasures be
Above the reach of your capacity:
Religion guard your Conscience, may your health
Replenish; may you wallow in your Wealth:
Knowledg support you, may you never vow
Divided Love; and when soever you
Enter the List of Wedlock; may that prize
Be loving, vertuous young, rich, fair, and wise.
