Wonderful is Thy Love (rhymed version)

by Judah Halevi c. 1075–1141

Translated by Nina Salaman (1924) · From Selected Poems of Jehudah Halevi (Jewish Publication Society, 1924)

Religion

Let my sweet song be pleasing unto Thee—
The incense of my praise—
O my Beloved that art flown from me,
Far from mine errant ways!
But I have held the garment of His love,
Seeing the wonder and the might thereof).
The glory of Thy name is my full store—
My portion for the toil wherein I strove:
Increase the sorrow:—I shall love but more!
Wonderful is Thy love!
