Religion
To a careless Sinner
From Mid-night and Daily Thoughts (1694)
Religion
Thou dost not, sure, believe that thou shalt die,
Or never think'st upon it seriously;
Because thou liv'st as if thou didst disdain,
After this life, ever to rise again:
Else thou wouldst set a higher price upon
The Glories of thy Resurrection:
For 'tis not possible a Man of sense
Can always hold so ill intelligence
With Heaven, as not to wish, or not to fear,
He never may, or never would come there.
