Love

Sweet Clementina, Turn Those Eyes

by Walter Savage Landor 1775–1864

From Works and Life, ed. Forster, vol. VIII (1876)

Love

Sweet Clementina, turn those eyes
On lines that trembling love has traced; v
O steal one moment from the skies,
With pity, as with beauty, graced.
So may the Virgin, ever blest,
Whate'er you hope, whate'er you do,
Buie o'er your pure and gentle breast,
And cast her tender est smile on you.
