Love
Egg Strikes on Egg and Breaks It; True
From Works and Life, ed. Forster, vol. VIII (1876)

Egg strikes on egg and breaks it; true;
But, striking, is not broken too.
Thus while one smitten heart, a-fire,
Gives way, the other is entire.
