Death & Dying
Book VII, 19: On the Same
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. II, 1917)
Death & Dying
Alcman the graceful, the swan-singer of wedding hymns, who made music worthy of the Muses, lieth in this tomb, a great ornament to Sparta, or perhaps at the last he threw off his burden and went to Hades. (The last couplet is quite obscure as it stands. )
This translation is printed as prose in its source edition.
