Time & Brevity

In a Mirror

by Li Po 701–762

Translated by Herbert A. Giles (1898) · From Chinese Poetry in English Verse (1898)

Time & Brevity

My whitening hair would make a long long rope,
Yet could not fathom all my depth of woe;
Though how it comes within a mirror's scope
To sprinkle autumn frosts, I do not know.
