Love

The Night Comes

by Li Shang-yin AD 813–858

Translated by Herbert A. Giles (1898) · From Chinese Poetry in English Verse (1898)

Love

'Tis evening, and in restless vein
At the old mount I slacken rein:
The glorious day
Fades fast away
And naught but twilight glooms remain!
