Nature

A Mountain Brook

by Lin Hung 12th century AD

Translated by Herbert A. Giles (1898) · From Chinese Poetry in English Verse (1898)

Nature

One draught for my poetic soul I take,
Unconscious river, ere thou slid'st away
To serve the orgies of the Western Lake,
And be no more the pure stream of today.
