Book XI, 185
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. IV, 1918)
Social Commentaries
Hecetocuus, my Lord Caesar, once emptied a Greek city by appearing to sing the part of Nauplius. Nauplius is ever an evil to the Greeks, either sending a great wave on their ships or having a lyre-singer to play his part.
This translation is printed as prose in its source edition.
