Book III, Epigram 26 (Ker)
Translated by Walter C. A. Ker (1919–20) · From Epigrams (Loeb, 1919–20)
Lands are yours alone, and yours alone, Candidus, are moneys; gold plate is yours alone; murrine cups are yours alone; Massic wines are yours alone, and Caecuban of Opimius' year yours alone, and talent is yours alone; yours alone genius. All things are yours alone — fancy I waijt to deny it! — but you have a wife, Candidus, who is also the people's property.
This translation is printed as prose in its source edition.
