Book IV, Epigram 3 (Ker)
Translated by Walter C. A. Ker (1919–20) · From Epigrams (Loeb, 1919–20)
Mark how thickly the still fleecy shower flows down on Caesar's face and on his bosom! Yet he humours Jove, and with head unmoved smiles at the waters congealed by numbing frost, wont as he has been to tire Bootes' Northern Star, and, with drenched locks, to disregard the Greater Bear. Who wantons with this dry shower and frolics from heaven? I deem these were snows sent by Caesar's child.
