Nature

The cherry trees are blossoming

by Ōe no Masafusa d. 1112

Translated by William N. Porter (1909) · From A Hundred Verses from Old Japan (Hyakunin Isshu), poem 73

Nature

The cherry trees are blossoming
On Takasago’s height;
Oh may no mountain mist arise,
No clouds so soft and white,
To hide them from our sight.
