The Mind

Quatrain 162

by Omar Khayyam 1048–1131

Translated by E. H. Whinfield (1883) · From The Quatrains (Whinfield)

The Mind

Take heart! Long in the weary tomb you'll lie,
While stars keep countless watches in the sky,
And see your ashes moulded into bricks,
To build another's house and turrets high.
