Living

Book X, 89

by Palladas of Alexandria 4th century AD

Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. IV, 1918)

Living

If Rumour be a goddess, she too as well as the other gods is oath with ine Greeks and cozens them with deceptive words. Rumour, if any evil befall thee, at once is proved to be true, and often the rapidity of events anticipates her.
