Love

To Sad-Heart

by Josephine Preston Peabody 1874–1922

From The Singing Leaves (1903)

Love

I have a word for you,
For you, Sad-Heart,
And pray you keep it till the dawn come true,
And sorrow part.

I never bid you doff
A single care:
But ever till to-morrow, O, put off—
Put off Despair!
