Living
Invocation to Fortune: Written under a Picture Painted by Mr. Howard
From Miscellaneous Works (Waller, 1907)
Living
ASSIST my Cause with Honour, Justice, Truth,
And Thou great Fortune wont to favor Youth
For me Thy Godhead by Thy Mercy prove
Chain cruel rage, and aid afflicted Love
Great Heavens Decrees undaunted let me try
And live with Empire or with Virtue dye.
