Book III, 72: On a Christian
From Divine Fancies (1633), Book III
Religion
The Generous Christian must as well improve
Ith' quality of the Serpent, as the Dve;
He must be Innocent; affraid, to doe
A wrong; And crafty, to prevent it too:
They must be mixt, and temper'd with true love;
An Ounce of Serpent, serves a Pound of Dove.
