Nature

Sunshine

by Christina Rossetti 1830–1894

From New Poems (1896)

Nature

"There's little sunshine in my heart,
Slack to spring, lead to sink:
There's little sunshine in the world,
I think."
"There's glow of sunshine in my heart
(Cool wind, cool the glow):
There's flood of sunshine in the world,
I know."
Now if of these one spoke the truth,
One spoke more or less:
But which was which I will not tell:
You guess.
