Love

(untitled)

by Sir Charles Sedley 1639–1701

Love

MADAM, for your Commands to stay,
Is the mean duty of a Wretch,
Whose service you with wages pay:
Lovers should at occasion catch,
Not idly wait till it be brought,
But with the deed o'retake your thought;
Honour and Love let them give o're,
Who do their duty, and no more.
